Turkish caricature magazines receive death threats

Zafer Aknar, editor for Turkish caricature magazine Leman, told the Turkish version of Voice of America that they constantly receive death threats and Turkish authorities have no security measures around their offices. Aknar argued that it is obvious that which circles threaten caricaturists but the police do not investigate the matter. CHP deputy Umut Oran asked a parliamentary question to the government on whether if the government take precautions to defend satire magazines like Penguen or Leman.
