More journalists from Turkey face criminal charges, investigation

Yılmaz Özdil, columnist for the ultranationalist daily Sözcü, faces 6 years in prison for “insult” and “provoking the people towards hatred and animosity.” Following the mining disaster at Soma, Turkey last year, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said such accidents are in the nature of the mining business and özdil has said the miners deserved this if they voted for Erdoğan. An AKP deputy has filed a complaint about Özdil but this was rejected by court. However, the appeal to this rejection was granted this week and the columnist face the charges now.
